Fiddle Tunes a touch Further Flung: This winter we will distract ourselves from whatever weather New England throws at us by learning tunes from a variety of other fiddle styles. Warm up with a tango, feel grateful for every drop of sunshine by learning a tune from Denmark, contemplate the Mediterranean with a tune from Greece or Italy, and imagine some southern humidity with a Cajun tune! We will take on 8-10 new tunes by ear over the course of the 7 weeks all from a variety of other fiddle styles. As our winter seasons do not have a concert, it is a great chance to learn some new tunes and just enjoy playing together! Tunes will be taught by ear, but will be available online in advance for organizational ease.

Let’s Play!
The mission of the Fiddle Orchestra of Western Massachusetts, an amateur orchestra of fiddle players, primarily, but also players of other instruments, is to give fiddlers and others interested in playing traditional music the opportunity to play together under the guidance of a professional musician in order to improve their skills, to more deeply enjoy their playing, to nourish camaraderie, and to share their enjoyment of music with the community.

Sign Up to play with the FOWM-Lite Band, it is an opportunity for members to rehearse in small session groupings and perform at community venues when an opportunity arises. The program differs a bit every season.
